Bengaluru to host India-U.S. Civil Space Joint Working Group meet in August
The next meeting of the India-U.S. Civil Space Joint Working Group (CSJWG) will be held in Bengaluru in the first week of August 2026, as announced by Eric Atkins, Public Diplomacy Officer at the U.S. Consulate General. The CSJWG, established in 2005, facilitates bilateral discussions between ISRO, NASA, and other government agencies. The two countries have collaborated on space programs including the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission launched in 2025. During the announcement, visiting NASA JPL scientist Swati Mohan highlighted achievements of the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover, which has exceeded its prime mission duration and successfully collected samples showing potential signs of past life on Mars. She also noted that NASA's Ingenuity Mars Helicopter has completed over 70 flights since 2021. Mohan explained Mars' sustained scientific interest due to its similar gravity, atmosphere, and mineral composition to Earth.
