The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) will optimize the layout of radio spectrum resources, fully leveraging their role in driving innovation in radio technology applications and supporting the development of the radio industry, according to a report on March 21.
The development of advanced manufacturing and the acceleration of new industrialization rely heavily on the support of scarce radio spectrum resources and a secure, orderly electromagnetic environment.
Speaking at the opening of the 2026 China Radio Conference in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei Province, on March 21, an MIIT official emphasized the need for scientific planning, precise supply, rational development, and efficient utilization of spectrum resources. The goal is to transform intangible spectrum resources into tangible, powerful energy, injecting momentum into the construction of a modern industrial system anchored by advanced manufacturing.
The official outlined the following priorities:
- Strengthen innovation platforms to promote the integrated development of radio technology innovation and industrial innovation.
- Enhance radio governance efficiency by continuously improving the legal, regulatory, and standards systems for radio management, strengthening monitoring and interference investigation, and cracking down on illegal frequency use and station setup in accordance with the law.
- Deepen openness and cooperation, including successfully hosting the International Telecommunication Union's 2027 World Radiocommunication Conference.
The 2026 China Radio Conference, themed "Wireless Innovation, Painting the Future," features:
- One main forum focusing on strategic foresight, technological breakthroughs, and industrial practices.
- Ten thematic seminars centered on topics such as the efficient development and utilization of spectrum.
- Three special exchange sessions marking the 10th anniversary of the revision and release of the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Radio Management.
