According to an analysis by Yu Weining, chief statistician of the Industrial Department of the National Bureau of Statistics, high-tech manufacturing played a leading role in China's industrial profits from January to August 2026. Profits for large-scale high-tech manufacturing enterprises rose 54.7% year-on-year, outpacing the overall industrial average by 39.0 percentage points. Driven by the accelerated construction of computing infrastructure, the fiber optic manufacturing and cable manufacturing sectors saw profit increases of 5.3 times and 1.0 times, respectively. Other high-growth sectors included computer manufacturing (up 3.9 times), computer peripheral equipment manufacturing (up 2.6 times), industrial control computer manufacturing (up 1.3 times), and communication system equipment manufacturing (up 48.7%). In the instrument and new medical equipment sectors, profits for navigation, surveying, and meteorological instrument manufacturing rose 2.2 times, while dental equipment manufacturing profits increased by 70.2%.
