According to a report by IT之家 citing Caixin, an internal source from Li Auto (LI) revealed that the company's solid-state batteries could achieve small-batch production capability by 2027 or 2028. Li Auto's senior director of power batteries, Liu Zhimin, stated that the company has multiple solid-state battery projects under development and has already completed prototype validation in eyewear products. However, he noted that achieving mature mass production in vehicles while ensuring user experience certainty will take approximately five more years. Liu highlighted ongoing challenges in simultaneously meeting lifespan, charging performance, and cost requirements for solid-state batteries. Separately, on September 7, Li Auto officially announced a new battery strategy, deploying self-developed batteries across its entire model lineup. The company confirmed that its self-developed batteries have already been integrated into mass production vehicles, including the Li L6, L8, and i8 models, with plans to fully transition all new and refreshed models to self-developed batteries.
