Xianyu: 98,358 accounts frozen in 2026 crackdown on pornographic content

Xianyu, the second-hand e-commerce platform under Alibaba, has disclosed the latest results of its special campaign against sexually explicit content and illegal引流 (traffic redirection). Since January 2026, the platform has frozen a total of 98,358 risk accounts linked to such activities. Through collaboration with law enforcement, Xianyu has proactively transferred relevant leads to public security authorities, leading to the successful dismantling of 15 criminal rings involved in sexually explicit content.

Ongoing Anti-Fraud and Security Campaigns

Since the beginning of this year, Xianyu has disclosed progress on 32 special governance actions, including campaigns against online trolls, fraud, and off-platform traffic redirection. Measures include removing non-compliant listings, banning accounts with serious violations, and upgrading the platform's risk control technology to foster a secure and trustworthy online trading environment.

Challenges in Combating Sexually Explicit Content

Sexually explicit content引流 is widely regarded as one of the most difficult areas to regulate in the industry. Long-standing challenges include:

• Cross-platform operations: Criminal networks often use traffic platforms as entry points, while actual transactions or scams occur off-platform.
• Evolving coded language: Perpetrators frequently use disguised symbols, numbers, or altered terms to mask sexually explicit content, making detection and enforcement increasingly difficult.

Full-Chain Governance System

To maintain a clean online environment, Xianyu has established a comprehensive governance system covering pre-identification, real-time intervention, and police-platform collaboration. The goal is to disrupt the sexually explicit content supply chain at the platform level.

Key Scenarios Targeted

During the special campaign, the platform focused on three typical scenarios:

1. Coded language for off-platform services: Perpetrators disguise sexually explicit content using ordinary product names or combinations of numbers and symbols, then redirect users to external instant messaging platforms to offer services.
2. Fraud under the guise of sexual services: Fraudsters post bait listings to lure users to third-party platforms, where they are tricked into completing tasks (e.g., fake orders) under the pretext of receiving sexual services.
3. Hidden distribution via cloud storage: Offenders embed contact information in cloud storage links, directing users to external sites containing sexually explicit content.

Upon identifying such activities, Xianyu permanently bans the involved accounts immediately.

Commitment to Ongoing Enforcement

Xianyu stated that it will continue to increase investment in combating sexually explicit content引流, strengthen risk identification capabilities, and deepen collaboration with public security authorities. The platform aims to use technology to safeguard ecosystem security and provide users with a clean, healthy trading environment.

In response to media reports, Xianyu conducted an immediate review. The platform strictly prohibits sexually explicit content and transactions and has established routine monitoring mechanisms. Since January 2026, it has handled 98,358 risk accounts related to sexually explicit content引流, proactively transferred leads to police, and helped dismantle 15 criminal rings.

Xianyu acknowledged that such violations are highly隐蔽 (concealed) and often跨平台 (cross-platform), with perpetrators using seemingly normal information as cover before redirecting users off-platform or offline. The platform will continue to enhance its ability to identify risk clues and deepen law enforcement cooperation, while also calling for joint efforts across platforms to maintain a clean online environment.
