Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay will undergo corrective surgery for a 'mild benign arrhythmia', the club announced on September 1, 2026. The 29-year-old Scotland international will miss Napoli's next four matches, including a Serie A clash against champions Inter Milan and a Champions League home game against Arsenal. The procedure, a cardiac arrhythmia ablation (PFA), will take place in the coming days. McTominay is expected to return after the international break, with his first possible match being against Frosinone on October 11. He will also miss Scotland's Nations League matches during the break. The NHS describes arrhythmia as an irregular heartbeat that is usually not serious but warrants medical advice. McTominay had started both of Napoli's opening Serie A games this season.
