PoliticsVoteVets, a non-profit and political action group supporting Democrat veteran candidates, launched a 10-day billboard campaign on August 24, 2026, in 10 U.S. cities near military installations. Over 1,000 digital and static billboards feature photos of President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on a fiery background, declaring that 'Trump & Hegseth’s Iran War means higher prices for you with no end in sight.' Retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton, a senior adviser to VoteVets, stated the effort aims to connect 'affordability with accountability,' linking political leaders' actions to rising costs at gas pumps and grocery stores. The campaign references the ongoing Iran conflict that began with strikes on Feb. 28, 2026, and the disputed control of the Strait of Hormuz, which has disrupted oil shipments and driven up prices. The billboards also highlight the national debt surpassing $40 trillion. Locations include Dayton, Ohio; Fayetteville, North Carolina; and San Antonio, Texas, among others. The campaign is scheduled to run until September 2, 2026.
