Ukrainian drone strike hits Lukoil refinery in Russia's Perm region

Ukraine conducted a long-range drone strike overnight on an oil refinery in the Perm region of Russia, over 1,600 kilometers from the border. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attack, stating it hit Lukoil's Permnefteorgsintez crude processing facility, causing a large fire. The strike is part of an ongoing Ukrainian campaign targeting Russian oil refineries and military airfields to disrupt fuel supplies and pressure Moscow into peace negotiations. The governor of the Perm region reported that Russian air defenses shot down 16 drones, but one industrial facility was damaged with no injuries. This attack follows a similar drone strike on a Rosneft refinery in Bashkortostan earlier in the week. Ukraine's sustained drone campaign has contributed to gasoline and diesel shortages in Russia over the past three months.
