Ukraine strikes Lukoil refinery deep in Russia's Perm region

Ukraine conducted a long-range drone strike overnight on an oil refinery in the Perm region, over 1,600 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Friday. The target was Lukoil's Permnefteorgsintez crude processing facility, where a large fire broke out. The attack is part of an ongoing Ukrainian campaign targeting Russian oil processing and export facilities to disrupt fuel supplies to the Russian military and domestic market. Dmitry Makhonin, governor of the Perm region, reported that Russian air defenses shot down 16 drones but one industrial facility was damaged, with no injuries. The strike followed a similar attack on a Rosneft-owned refinery in Bashkortostan earlier in the week. Ukraine's nearly daily drone strikes have contributed to gasoline and diesel shortages in Russia for over three months.
