Myanmar's military-appointed President Min Aung Hlaing is reportedly planning a state visit to Cambodia, which would be his third to an ASEAN member state since taking office in April. The trip has not been officially confirmed but was hinted at in a Facebook post by Cambodia's Senate. This visit is part of Min Aung Hlaing's broader diplomatic push to normalize Myanmar's relations with ASEAN, which has excluded the junta from summits over its failure to implement the bloc's Five-Point Consensus peace plan. Myanmar has dismissed the plan as interference and seeks direct engagement with willing members like Thailand and Cambodia. The report emerged as Min Aung Hlaing departed for a state visit to Russia, where he will meet President Putin and attend an economic forum. Since the 2021 coup, Myanmar has deepened ties with Russia, expanding cooperation beyond defense into trade, nuclear energy, and space.
