TechApple announced on Tuesday (Aug 18) that it is changing its fee structure for alternative app stores in the European Union. The new terms eliminate the initial acquisition fee and the store services fee that were previously charged. This move comes amid ongoing legal and regulatory pressure in the EU, including a legal battle with Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, which has contested Apple's App Store fees. Epic Games referred to the new commission as 'junk fees'. The changes are part of Apple's response to the EU's Digital Markets Act, which requires the company to allow alternative app marketplaces on its devices.
