OtherSoldiers in the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia, can receive a special four-day pass to play the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI if they reenlist between August 1 and November 14, 2026. The incentive, approved by battalion commander Lt. Col. Ryan Hodgson, is designed to boost reenlistment numbers by appealing to younger soldiers. As of Monday, 20 of the 130 eligible soldiers had signed up for two to six additional years of service. The pass will align with the game's official release on November 19, 2026. The offer highlights the creative approaches local commanders use to meet retention goals, as Army-wide bonuses alone are sometimes insufficient. The battalion includes engineers, signal intelligence, human resources, and medical personnel.
