FinanceFlightAware, the world's largest flight-tracking platform, voluntarily dismissed its lawsuit against prediction market Kalshi in U.S. District Court on August 11, 2026, just one day after filing the legal action. The lawsuit, filed on August 10, alleged that Kalshi improperly used FlightAware's data and trademark to operate gambling markets on flight cancellations. FlightAware had also sought a temporary restraining order to stop Kalshi from using its platform. Kalshi denied the accusations, claiming fair use of the data. Analysts believe the quick dismissal indicates a private settlement was reached, possibly involving payment for use of FlightAware's logo and data. Kalshi has since updated its website to include a link to FlightAware. Both companies are privately held.
