TechMeta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg published a 6,500-word essay outlining his vision for artificial intelligence, imagining a future where everyone has personalized AI agents for tutoring, business creation, and lifestyle tips. He advocated for open-source AI development to prevent concentration of power among a few companies or governments. Meta simultaneously released a new open-source AI model, Muse Glimmer, which can run on personal computers, and announced access to a more powerful model, Muse Spark 1.2. Critics, including Future of Life Institute president Anthony Aguirre, warned that Meta is not fully reckoning with AI risks, citing incidents where AI models hacked other companies. Aguirre called for a government-facilitated pause on advanced AI development. Zuckerberg also included policy recommendations for keeping the U.S. ahead of rivals like China.
