SK Hynix has committed $38.3 billion to build two new semiconductor fabs in South Korea, with the investment heavily tied to supplying high-bandwidth memory for Nvidia's AI chips. The board approved $35.2 trillion won for a DRAM fab in Yongin and $19.1 trillion won for a NAND plant in Cheongju. Construction begins in 2027, with first cleanrooms opening in 2028-2029. The company reported record Q2 revenue of 79.3 trillion won but shares fell due to missed analyst expectations. SK Hynix is also reviewing additional shareholder return measures to stabilize investor sentiment amid stock volatility.
