ConflictThe Houthi rebels in Yemen launched one of their largest attacks in years against Saudi-aligned forces in the eastern provinces of Marib and Hadhramaut. The assault, using ballistic missiles and drones, targeted camps of the Yemen Emergency Forces and other units. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed hundreds of Saudi-aligned troops were killed or injured, while Yemeni government officials reported at least 30 deaths. The U.S. Embassy in Yemen condemned the attack as terrorism. This escalation comes amid an ongoing Houthi campaign against Saudi shipping in the Red Sea and marks a significant flare-up in the largely dormant Yemen conflict, which began in 2014 and drew in a Saudi-led coalition in 2015.
