TechMeta has announced the beta launch of Muse Code, a new AI-powered coding agent designed to compete directly with Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex. Powered by Meta's Muse Spark 1.2 model, Muse Code can handle complex software engineering tasks including writing code and validating results. Meta's AI chief Alexandr Wang touted it as one of the most affordable coding agents globally. Pricing is set at $1.25 per million input tokens, 15 cents per million cached-input tokens, and $4.25 per million output tokens. A discounted 'contributor' tier is available for users willing to let Meta use their activity to improve products. The launch marks Meta's entry into the competitive coding agent market, where Anthropic and OpenAI have gained early traction. During Meta's Q1 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg had indicated developer tools were not a primary focus but left the door open for coding tools. Meta aims to attract developers by offering a comparable agent at a lower price point.
