AMD signs landmark AI power deal with Core Scientific for up to 2.5 GW data-center capacity

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has announced a landmark agreement with Core Scientific (CORZ) to secure up to 2.5 gigawatts of data-center capacity across the United States, starting with over 500 megawatts in 2027. The deal addresses the critical need for power and physical infrastructure to deploy AMD's AI chips, including Instinct GPUs and EPYC processors. AMD CEO Lisa Su projected the AI accelerator market could reach $1.4 trillion by 2030, driven by agentic AI. As part of the arrangement, AMD will receive market-priced warrants to purchase Core Scientific stock. This follows similar large-scale infrastructure agreements AMD has signed with OpenAI, Meta, and Anthropic, signaling the company's aggressive push to compete with Nvidia in the AI chip market.
