Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, which entered the electric vehicles (EV) segment last year, has exported 15,210 EV units in the April-June (Q1) quarter of FY27, commanding a 97% share in total EV shipments from the country.
According to available industry data, the EV market — dominated by Tata Motors and Mahindra — registered total exports of 15,641 units in the review period.
The company, which is the market leader in the passenger vehicles (PV) segment, introduced the e Vitara in August 2025. Since then, more than 41,000 units have been exported to 47 countries, with the United Kingdom being the top destination.
“It is India’s pride that Maruti Suzuki’s BEV — the e Vitara — has emerged as the country’s third largest exported model [after Fronx and Jimny]. The e Vitara is now being exported to 47 countries including U.K., Germany, Japan, Norway, and Switzerland as top few destinations. It stands as a symbol of the success of hi-tech Indian manufacturing on the global stage,” said Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.
Highlighting that Maruti Suzuki is taking a “calibrated approach” to rolling out EVs in the domestic market, Bharti said the company will expand distribution in tandem with the growth of the country’s charging infrastructure.
