Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Republic of Ireland forward Leanne Kiernan from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee, with the 27-year-old joining on a three-year deal. Kiernan spent five years at Liverpool, scoring 23 goals in 76 appearances and playing a key role in their WSL 2 title win in 2022 as top scorer with 14 goals. She leaves as Liverpool's second-highest goalscorer in the WSL era, though injuries disrupted recent seasons. After limited game time under Liverpool boss Gareth Taylor, she spent the second half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest. Kiernan, who has 38 caps for the Republic of Ireland since her 2017 debut, previously played for West Ham and Shelbourne. Newcastle, who have made eight additions this transfer window, are preparing to challenge for the WSL 2 title. Liverpool have also signed Germany forward Vivien Endemann from Wolfsburg this summer.
