Global investment firm Strategic Value Partners (SVP) announced on July 27, 2026, that its SVP Funds group is acquiring a minority equity interest in the 1,182-MW South Field Energy natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Columbiana County, Ohio. Financial terms were not disclosed. The plant, which features GE 7HA turbines and entered commercial operation in 2021, is described as one of the newest and most efficient gas-fired plants in the PJM Interconnection. The investment is part of SVP's partnership with EverGen Power, a Houston-based power generation asset management firm established in 2024. SVP executives cited structural growth in data center demand and the need for consolidation in power generation as key drivers. SVP manages about $21 billion in assets and has offices globally. The firm previously agreed to acquire the remaining equity in the 485-MW Birdsboro Power plant in Pennsylvania in May 2026.

David Geenberg, Head of North American Corporate Investments at SVP:
"We continue to see an attractive opportunity set in power generation, driven by structural growth in data center demand and the need for consolidation and new ownership strategies. We are excited to join South Field's partnership of Asian and U.S. shareholders to help maximize the value of this critical asset in a high-growth market."
