SportsManchester City announced that Croatian international defender Joško Gvardiol has signed a new five-year contract, extending his stay at the club until the summer of 2031. The 24-year-old, who joined from RB Leipzig in 2023, has made 122 appearances for City and won the Premier League in 2024. Despite a tibia fracture that sidelined him from January to May 2026, Gvardiol has become a mainstay in defense alongside Ruben Dias. In a statement, Gvardiol expressed his love for the club and belief in future success. The extension ends speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
