Bayern Munich World Cup players begin pre-season training

Munich – The DFB stars of FC Bayern are now getting started. Four weeks after the World Cup round-of-32 defeat to Paraguay (3–4 on penalties) and their extended vacation, the German national players begin their Bayern preparation for the new season this Monday morning. One week after the official season start, nine World Cup participants will undergo fitness tests – starting with examinations at the Barmherzige Brüder hospital, followed by body measurements and lactate tests at Säbener Straße.

From 8 a.m., the players were thoroughly examined by team internist Prof. Dr. Roland Schmidt, including lung function tests and stress ECGs. Aleksandar Pavlovic (22) was the first player to arrive at the hospital's underground garage at 7:38 a.m.

Afterwards, his German teammates will follow in groups, including:

• DFB captain Joshua Kimmich (31)
• Bayern captain Manuel Neuer (40, entering his 21st Bundesliga season)
• Backup goalkeeper Jonas Urbig (22)
• Jonathan Tah (30)
• New signing Nathaniel Brown (23, arrived for €50 million plus €5 million in bonuses from Eintracht Frankfurt)

Two World Cup participants – Minjae Kim (29, South Korea) and Hiroki Ito (27, Japan) – are also expected to arrive in Munich.

Additionally, Bara Sapoko Ndiaye (18) was announced. The midfield jewel, who was on loan from Gambinos Stars Africa in the second half of the season and played at the World Cup with Senegal, is close to a permanent transfer to the German record champions, as sports director Christoph Freund (49) revealed on Saturday.

DFB Stars Travel to Tegernsee Afterwards

After the fitness tests, the first World Cup participants will travel on Tuesday to the training camp at Tegernsee (July 27–30) and complete initial sessions under double coach Vincent Kompany (40), as well as the friendly match against district league club FC Rottach-Egern (Thursday, 6 p.m.).

These players had to report back in Munich seven days ago.

Nine World Cup Stars Not Yet There

Before the trip to South Korea and Hong Kong (August 1–8), the other World Cup participants – Luis Díaz (29, Colombia), Konrad Laimer (29, Austria), and Josip Stanisic (26, Croatia) – will also join the team.

Only after the Asia tour will the superstars rejoin:

• Alphonso Davies (25)
• Jamal Musiala (23, rehab after metal plate removal in left foot)
• New signing Ismael Saibari (25, arrived for around €50 million from Eindhoven)

Lennart Karl (18, muscle bundle tear in left thigh) and Serge Gnabry (31, adductor tear in right thigh) will also not go on the marketing tour with Bayern and will instead continue their rehabilitation training in Munich.
