Celtic boss O'Neill confirms Bodo/Glimt striker Hogh to have medical within 24 hours

Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh is due to have a medical with Celtic in the next 24 hours, according to manager Martin O'Neill.

The 25-year-old Denmark international has been linked with the Scottish champions for several months. Reports claim Celtic have agreed a club-record £11 million fee with the Norwegian club.

O'Neill was questioned about the progress of the deal after Saturday's 2-2 pre-season friendly draw with AC Milan at Celtic Park.

"Yes, I'm hoping that that will happen," he said. "I think there's a good chance of it.

"But, until someone's actually signed and sealed, there might be things still up in the air, but it's certainly progressing."

Asked about reports that Hogh was about to undergo a medical, O'Neill added: "Yes, apparently so. He will have one in the next 24 hours, I think."

News of Hogh's imminent arrival will ease some pressure on Celtic's board and manager following Saturday's sale of fan favourite Daizen Maeda, with the Japan forward being sold to Ipswich Town.

Celtic have made just one signing this summer, though Colombian forward Camilo Duran has scored three goals in three warm-up games so far.

The club has also been strongly linked with Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur. Asked if signing the 22-year-old German is also a possibility, O'Neill said:

"That, I genuinely can't tell you. I genuinely cannot tell you at this minute.

"I've been preparing for this game. I'll see where we are tomorrow and things.

"We've got a few other things in the pipeline that might come to fruition, which would be great for us."

From Early Setbacks to Champions League Goals

Hogh's career has been a slow burner since he came through the youth ranks with local club Randers. He was sold to second-tier Hobro after an injury-hit spell, which included a loan to Valur in Iceland.

• His career took off at Stabaek, who exercised their purchase option only six months into his year-long loan after he scored eight goals in 14 games

Hogh finished as Bodo/Glimt's top scorer with 12 goals as they retained the Norwegian title. His seven goals in the Europa League made him the competition's joint top marksman as they reached the semi-finals.

He was also the club's top scorer for 2025 with 17 goals, though Bodo/Glimt finished second, one point behind Viking.

In January, he scored a double in a 3-1 Champions League win over Manchester City and netted again the following week in a 2-1 away victory against Atletico Madrid.

Hogh was first called up to Denmark's senior squad in March and made his debut as a late substitute in a 4-0 win over North Macedonia. In his second appearance, he came off the bench to head Denmark's equaliser in their World Cup play-off final against the Czech Republic, though his side lost in a penalty shoot-out.
