The teaser reintroduces Carrie White, played by Summer H. Howell, a socially isolated teenager whose life is shaped by relentless bullying at school and the suffocating control of her deeply religious mother, Margaret White, portrayed by Samantha Sloyan. As Carrie’s mysterious telekinetic abilities begin to surface, the teaser hints at the devastating consequences that follow when years of trauma and humiliation reach a breaking point.

Rather than recreating Brian De Palma’s celebrated 1976 film beat for beat, Flanagan appears to be placing the story in a contemporary setting, weaving in themes of social media, misinformation, and modern high school culture while preserving the emotional tragedy at the heart of King’s novel.
