Mike Flanagan's 'Carrie' Teaser Released by Prime Video Ahead of October Premiere
Prime Video has released the first teaser for Mike Flanagan's television adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 horror novel 'Carrie'. The eight-episode series, premiering on October 7, offers a contemporary reimagining set in modern high school culture, incorporating themes of social media and misinformation. Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, a socially isolated teenager with telekinetic abilities, while Samantha Sloyan plays her religiously fanatical mother Margaret. The cast also includes Siena Agudong, Amber Midthunder, Matthew Lillard, and frequent Flanagan collaborators Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, and Katee Sackhoff. Flanagan described the project as a fresh interpretation rather than a direct recreation of Brian De Palma's 1976 film, aiming to explore new ideas while preserving the emotional core of King's novel. Stephen King has expressed support for the adaptation's creative direction.
