LMAX Group, an institutional cryptocurrency trading platform based in London, is considering going public. The company is working with investment banks Morgan Stanley and Stifel Financial to evaluate strategic options, including a potential IPO, SPAC merger, or sale that could value the business at up to $5 billion. A listing on the Nasdaq exchange is reportedly LMAX's preferred route. The discussions come amid weak cryptocurrency markets, which may affect the timing of any IPO. LMAX operates institutional trading venues for forex and digital assets, serving banks and hedge funds. The company has grown by positioning itself as a bridge between traditional finance and crypto, recently launching a 24/7 multi-asset exchange and receiving a $150 million strategic investment from Ripple to expand adoption of its RLUSD stablecoin. LMAX has benefited from rising institutional participation following the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S.

LMAX is working with investment banks Morgan Stanley (NYSE: $MS) and Stifel Financial (NYSE: $SF) to evaluate strategic options, including a potential initial public offering (IPO).
The company is also reportedly exploring a SPAC merger or sale that could value the business at up to $5 billion U.S.

- In January of this year, LMAX received a $150 million U.S. strategic investment from Ripple (CRYPTO: $XRP) to help expand institutional adoption of Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin.
LMAX has benefited from rising institutional participation in cryptocurrency markets following the approval of spot Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the U.S.
BTC is trading at $64,115 U.S. on July 24.
