Trust Stamp Inc (NASDAQ:IDAI) has been selected as a direct participant in the European Union's Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) semiconductor initiative, aimed at developing an integrated semiconductor value chain across Europe. Executive Director Berta Pappenheim stated the selection validates the company's expertise in identity and data security. Trust Stamp has signed two cooperation agreements: one focusing on trusted hardware to link device identity to verified user identity for applications like medical devices and critical infrastructure, and another exploring brain-computer interfaces to potentially use brain-wave signals for individual identification. Malta Enterprise, Malta's economic development agency, selected Trust Stamp for the program. The participation opens pathways into semiconductor hardware, trusted identity solutions, and emerging biometric applications.

Trust Stamp Inc (NASDAQ: IDAI, ISE: AIID) has strengthened its position in the European technology ecosystem after being selected as a direct participant in the European Union's Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) semiconductor initiative. The programme is designed to develop an integrated and strategically important semiconductor value chain across Europe.
Speaking with Proactive, Executive Director and Project Lead Berta Pappenheim described the selection as a significant endorsement of the company's expertise in identity and data security. She noted that participation alongside major European semiconductor organisations provides important credibility while positioning Trust Stamp within Europe's efforts to develop sovereign semiconductor technologies.
According to Pappenheim, the company's involvement extends beyond research, creating opportunities for future commercial collaborations while integrating its identity technologies at the hardware level.
Trust Stamp has already signed two cooperation agreements with fellow participants in the initiative.
First Collaboration: Trusted Hardware
The first collaboration centres on trusted hardware, with Trust Stamp contributing to the design of a chip platform capable of linking the identity of a device to the verified identity of the individual operating it. The technology could support applications where secure authentication is essential, including:
- Medical devices
- Critical national infrastructure, particularly air-gapped systems
Pappenheim said the project represents an important step toward embedding trusted digital identity into critical infrastructure environments.
Second Collaboration: Brain-Computer Interfaces
The company's second collaboration focuses on frontier research involving brain-computer interfaces. While still in the early stages, the project is examining whether brain-wave signals could eventually serve as a method of identifying individuals. Trust Stamp's role includes evaluating how its technology can help protect highly sensitive biometric information generated through these emerging applications.
Recognition from Malta Enterprise
The executive also highlighted the contribution of Malta Enterprise, the country's national economic development agency, which selected Trust Stamp as a direct participant in the IPCEI programme. She described the selection as both an honour and an important validation of the company's capabilities.
Pappenheim noted that Malta is developing a growing semiconductor ecosystem despite its relatively small size, creating additional opportunities for innovation and collaboration.
Investor Implications
For investors, Trust Stamp's participation in the IPCEI initiative demonstrates expanding engagement with strategic European technology programmes while opening pathways into:
- Semiconductor hardware
- Trusted identity solutions
- Emerging biometric applications
