Josefine Scholl, daughter of Bayern legend Mehmet Scholl, breaks down in tears on TV over rare bone disease

Munich – Josefine Scholl (18), daughter of Bayern Munich legend Mehmet Scholl (55) and girlfriend of Bayern star Tom Bischof (21), lives with the rare McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS). The incurable genetic disease causes bones in affected areas to break more easily.

In the second episode of the ProSieben documentary "Born Famous – Curse or Blessing?", which aired Thursday evening, Scholl spoke openly about her illness—particularly about the thigh fracture she suffered in 2022.

"That was the day of my acrobatics performance. I was backstage and already had a strange feeling. Everyone told me it was just the performance, and I let myself be guided by that and went on stage. Then I didn't do much except a cartwheel. And during the acrobatics performance on stage, I broke my thigh. I just lay there at first and couldn't believe it myself."

Scholl's Daughter Opens Up About Her Illness

When the youngest daughter of the former national player recounted the incident on television, she briefly burst into tears—a reaction that underscores how deeply she continues to struggle with her condition.

It was only through the thigh fracture that doctors discovered the incurable disease affects Scholl's entire right side.

"They thought I only had it in the groin area. Later it turned out that I have it on my entire right side of my body."

The consequences remain severe: she is no longer permitted to play any sports.

"That was of course very hard. I had hoped for something different for myself."

Daily Pain and Adaptation

Scholl also feels the effects in her everyday life. A few months ago, she revealed on TikTok:

"I actually have pain every day. I grew up with it. I have the pain in my upper arm, but also generally on my right side of my body."

Despite her illness, Scholl remains resilient. As part of a P-seminar at her school, she teaches younger students acrobatic figures using videos and pictures.

"Since the fifth grade, I've been looking forward to being the big one and teaching the little ones things and then watching the stage."

Still, she misses one thing deeply:

"Just being allowed to participate. Sport was just something important to me that was built into everything. Now I just stand by. I appreciate being allowed to participate, but it's not the same."
