Vizela officially announced the signing of left-back Alfred Caicedo this Friday. The Ecuadorian, an under-20 international, previously belonged to Genk of Belgium. He has signed a contract valid for two seasons, with an additional option year.
"I am very happy to be here. I really liked the project that was presented to me, and that's why I decided to come," the young full-back told the club's media. He went on to describe his playing style:
- "I am very strong in one-on-one situations, and it's difficult for opponents to get past me."
- "I like to support the attack and I always give my all."
- "I bring a lot of grit onto the field, and I will give everything for this club."
Trained at Aucas, Caicedo made his senior debut at the age of 16 and soon moved to Belgium—a journey he recalled in detail.
"Making my debut for the Aucas first team at 16 was a very special moment. At the time, the coach trusted me and gave me the opportunity. Later, a member of the Ecuador national team saw me play, and they called me up for a tournament in Brazil, and that's where the Genk scouts spotted me. The opportunity to make the jump to Belgium arose, a very important step in my career. I am very happy with the path I have taken so far, and now I want to keep evolving and help Vizela achieve its goals," he said.
Last season, the left-back was on loan to Spanish side Cádiz, for whom he played 15 matches.
