Chloé N'Gazi Embraces Algerian Identity
Algerian international goalkeeper Chloé N'Gazi did not hesitate to join the Fennecs.
"I really identify with this team. It's true that, because of my origins, I have a lot of character. In Algeria, that's an asset. Whether it's me or the other players, that's what makes this team strong. We need that," N'Gazi said.
Eager to Compete and Raise Visibility
Just days before Algeria's entry into the competition, N'Gazi is eager to start. She hopes this edition will boost the visibility of African women's football by "highlighting African players so they can have a space where they can be spotted and join big clubs."
The former Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper also wants the Women's AFCON to gain greater recognition.
"For me, all international competitions are equal, whether they take place in Africa or elsewhere. Some will say it might be worth less than another. For me, all international competitions are equal."
Tournament Postponed
Originally scheduled from March 17 to April 3, 2026, the Women's Africa Cup of Nations has been postponed and will now take place from July 26 to August 16, 2026.
