Hupu July 23rd — According to Brazil's Globo Esporte, Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti has downplayed the possibility of being hired by the Italian Football Federation as their national team coach, reiterating his desire to continue coaching Brazil until the 2030 World Cup.
Newly appointed Italian Football Federation national team director Paolo Maldini revealed on Tuesday that they had contacted Ancelotti. The contact occurred about two weeks ago, shortly after Brazil was eliminated from the World Cup following a 1-0 loss to Norway on July 5th.
The Italian Football Federation wanted to understand Ancelotti's future plans and the compensation required to terminate his contract early. Ancelotti politely thanked them for reaching out but made it clear he has no intention of leaving the Brazil national team.
It is worth noting that Ancelotti signed a four-year contract extension with the Brazilian Football Confederation just two months ago, with his current deal running until 2030.
Maldini's public statement did not surprise the Brazilian Football Confederation, as Ancelotti had already informed them of the contact from Italy.
