FinanceBAE Systems has signed a licensing agreement at the Farnborough International Air Show to support local manufacturing of the L119 Light Gun artillery system in Ukraine. The deal grants a strategic defense partner access to technical information and production support, with an initial phase focused on building a prototype for testing. The partnership aims to develop a variant of the 105mm towed howitzer tailored to the operational needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The L119, in British Army service since 1975, is known for its portability and ability to be airlifted, with a firing range of up to 17,200 meters. This agreement builds on previous cooperation in 2023 exploring domestic production possibilities and is part of BAE Systems' broader efforts to enhance Ukraine's defense industry and support UK artillery capabilities.
