PoliticsU.S. Marshals arrested controversial influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate in Florida on Saturday after British prosecutors filed 38 new criminal charges against them, bringing the total to 59 charges including rape, assault, sex trafficking, and offenses related to indecent images of a child. The brothers, dual U.S.-British citizens, were arrested pursuant to extradition proceedings. They had been based in Romania under criminal investigation but were allowed to fly to Florida last year after what Romania described as intervention from the Trump administration. The Tates are expected to appear before a magistrate judge in Miami on Monday. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will make the ultimate decision on extradition, though the State Department has granted nearly every British request since a strengthened extradition treaty was ratified in 2007.
