Lockheed Martin unveils Morfius X-Rotor counter-drone system at Farnborough Airshow

At the 2026 Farnborough Airshow in London, Lockheed Martin introduced the Morfius X-Rotor, a ground-launched, recoverable counter-drone system that uses high-power microwave (HPM) technology to neutralize over 50 enemy drones in a single flight. Designed to be reused and integrated with any command and control system, the Morfius aims to provide a low-cost-per-kill solution against drone swarms. The company has accelerated prototype production after successful flight tests in Arizona, California, and Oklahoma, with additional tests planned. The announcement aligns with U.S. efforts to reduce reliance on expensive interceptor missiles, as highlighted by the concurrent introduction of a cheaper Patriot interceptor.
