St. Louis City sign Danish attacker Carlo Holse as DP in $6M transfer

St. Louis City has reached an agreement to sign Danish attacking midfielder Carlo Holse from Turkish Süper Lig club Samsunspor for a fee of approximately $6 million, according to sources briefed on the deal. The 27-year-old will become a designated player for the MLS club. Holse recorded eight goals and four assists in the Turkish league last season and contributed two goals and five assists in 10 UEFA Conference League appearances, helping Samsunspor reach the round of 16. He previously played for Rosenborg in Norway and began his career at FC Copenhagen. Holse, who has one cap for Denmark, is expected to play alongside Marcel Hartel in St. Louis City's dual No. 10 roles under head coach Yoann Damet's 3-4-2-1 formation. The team, currently 10th in the Western Conference and one point from a playoff spot, has scored only 19 goals this season, the fifth-lowest in MLS.
