Raman is also leading the search for a new permanent CAISI director, with an announcement expected in the coming weeks. According to a Commerce official granted anonymity to discuss personnel matters, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is seeking a candidate with deep knowledge and expertise in AI.
Key Involvement in AI Policy
Fall was closely involved in discussions with top executives at Anthropic after the Commerce Department imposed export controls on the company in June. POLITICO previously reported that Fall participated in talks about how to restore access to Anthropic's advanced Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models.
