Aston Villa has officially announced the permanent signing of Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the total transfer fee reportedly £38 million. The 25-year-old, described as tenacious and energetic, came through Flamengo's youth academy, made his senior debut as a teenager, and won the Copa Libertadores. Gomes has earned 10 caps for Brazil and made 130 appearances for Wolves during his tenure. The deal was confirmed via Aston Villa's official website on July 20.
