PoliticsIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sharply criticized New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani after Mamdani called him a 'war criminal' and said he belongs in The Hague. Mamdani announced he would explore options for arresting Netanyahu during the UN General Debate in September. Netanyahu's office responded that Mamdani is trying to distract from his own missteps and should focus on fixing New York. The statement also dismissed the International Criminal Court as a 'kangaroo court' with no jurisdiction over Americans or Israelis, and called the arrest warrant against Netanyahu 'fabricated' and issued by a 'disgraced former ICC prosecutor.' The ICC had issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes in Gaza. Netanyahu further accused Mamdani of supporting Hamas and hating America.
