Saab wins $903.9m contract to equip German Navy's new MEKO A-200 frigates with combat systems

Saab has secured a contract worth approximately Skr8.7bn ($903.9m) with Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) to equip the German Navy's new MEKO A-200 DEU class frigates with combat systems and sensors. The contract includes Saab's 9LV Combat Systems, fire control and combat management systems, composite superstructures, Sea Giraffe 4A surveillance radar, Sea Giraffe 1X multi-mission radar, and passive sensors. Deliveries are scheduled between 2029 and 2032. This follows German Bundestag approval to procure four MEKO A-200 DEU-class vessels, with an option for additional ships. The German government turned to TKMS after canceling the F126 frigate program due to cost overruns and delays. The first frigate is expected for delivery by 2029. TKMS calls this its largest surface vessel contract in history.
