Mangaluru police arrest three members of international burglary gang, recover stolen valuables worth ₹10 lakh

The Barke police on Friday arrested three Nepali men from Boloor, alleged to be members of a notorious international burglary gang, on charges of housebreaking and theft. The police recovered stolen valuables worth over ₹10 lakh, including items worth ₹8.57 lakh stolen from a house in Mangaluru on July 11.

Accused Identified

The police identified the accused as:

• Tilak Kumar Khadka, 36
• Ashok Raj, 33
• Dipender Rasaili, 25

All three are residents of different parts of Nepal.

Incident Details

According to police, a family in Matadakani near Urwa Market had gone to a relative’s house in Bantwal on July 11. Upon returning, they found the rear door of their house broken open and discovered that 64 grams of gold ornaments and ₹25,000 in cash — together worth ₹8.57 lakh — were missing.

The Barke police registered a case under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (housebreaking and aggravated theft).

Recovery and Additional Seizures

Within five days of the incident, the police arrested the accused and recovered all the valuables stolen from the house. They also recovered 790 grams of silver articles allegedly stolen from a house in Nashik, Maharashtra.

Previous Offences

Police said that during interrogation, the accused revealed that they had attempted a burglary at a house under the Urwa police limits in March 2026.

In addition, cases have been registered against them in connection with burglaries at more than 15 houses under the limits of several police stations in Karnataka, including Bengaluru, Davangere, and Udupi. They also face similar charges in Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Haryana.

The accused will be produced before the jurisdictional court, the police said.
