Lenovo has announced the Legion R9000P, the world's first laptop to feature an inkjet-printed (IJP) OLED display manufactured by TCL CSOT. The 16-inch panel offers a 240 Hz refresh rate and over 99% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. Unlike traditional vacuum thermal evaporation (VTE) OLEDs, IJP OLEDs are cheaper and simpler to produce, with higher yields and improved brightness, making them ideal for portable devices. Other Adopters
In addition to Lenovo, MSI is also using the new IJP OLED panel in the recently announced MSI Pro Max OLED 271UPJW12. While MSI did not explicitly name TCL CSOT as the supplier, the specifications match exactly. TCL CSOT is currently the only manufacturer producing OLED screens using the inkjet printing technique.
Future Applications
Beyond laptops and monitors, the technology is expected to eventually reach TVs and smartphones. This could make high-quality OLED TVs more affordable and help them compete against cheaper alternatives like QLED and Mini LED. It may also enable budget smartphones with premium displays that rival flagship models.
