German firms GABLER and FLANQ complete sea trials of torpedo-tube-launched USV

German defense companies GABLER and FLANQ have successfully completed Sea Acceptance Testing (SAT) in June 2026 for their Ranger Torpedo-Tube-Launched Uncrewed Surface Vessel (TTL USV). The 4.5-meter vessel is designed to be fired from a standard 21-inch submarine torpedo tube, autonomously surface, and conduct intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions without exposing the submarine. The test validated the vessel's seaworthiness and key technologies. The Ranger features a mission-configurable payload bay and an electric drivetrain for quiet operation. A strike-capable variant called Strike is also planned. The rapid development from concept unveiling in September 2025 to completed SAT in roughly ten months highlights an unusually fast pace for naval programs.
