Haaland returns to Norway with stuffed raccoon souvenir from US

Erling Haaland may have preferred to bring the World Cup back to Oslo, but the Norwegian striker consoled himself with a different kind of trophy.

"It followed me home," Haaland posted on his Instagram account, alongside a photo of him carrying a stuffed raccoon.

Shortly after returning from the United States — where he helped Norway reach the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup with his goal-scoring prowess — the striker showed a different side of himself this Monday: that of a man of taste with a sense of humor.

A Name for His New Friend

In an Instagram story, Haaland asked his followers to help him name his new companion. The raccoon, which holds an empty alcohol bottle between its paws, could be called:

• "Cowboy"
• "Ranger"
• "TEX"
• "R.O.W." (for "Raccoon on wheels")

Purchased in Dallas

According to Norwegian television channel TV2, Haaland — who scored seven goals during the World Cup — reportedly bought the item at Wild Bill's Western Store in Dallas. His team had passed through the Texas city for the round of 16 match against Ivory Coast, a 2-1 victory in which Haaland scored.

The store's website features photos of the Manchester City player during his visit, wearing a cowboy hat.

Souvenir No Longer Available

Checking the "souvenirs" section of the store's site, Haaland's raccoon no longer appears to be for sale. However, two copies of a similar model remain: a stuffed squirrel, also holding an empty bottle, priced at $500 (approximately €439).

TV2 reports that Haaland paid $750 (about €659) for his souvenir — which will likely sit on his mantelpiece, perhaps awaiting a Ballon d'Or.
