Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh has appointed more than a dozen external advisers to lead five task forces that will re-examine how the central bank operates. The group draws primarily from academics, former central bankers, and business executives.
Among the advisers announced Thursday:
- Greg Mankiw, a former top economic adviser in the George W. Bush administration
- Thomas Sargent, a Nobel laureate in economics
- Doug McMillon, former CEO of Walmart
The task forces also include several unconventional picks, notably conservative venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, along with two other prominent figures from the technology sector who will serve on a task force focused on employment.
