Fran García, the new Real Betis full-back, has spoken for the first time since his transfer from Real Madrid was announced. The 26-year-old signed a four-year contract until 2030, with Betis acquiring 50% of his rights for under €4 million. In an interview with Betis's official media, García cited the city, the passionate fanbase, and the club's qualification for the Champions League as key reasons for his decision. He expressed excitement about joining a team he considers 'very top' in Spain and believes they can achieve significant goals in Europe. García traveled to Germany to join Betis's preseason training camp immediately after completing medical tests and meeting coach Manuel Pellegrini.

Fran García now speaks as a Betis player. The full-back from Castilla-La Mancha arrived in Seville yesterday, underwent routine medical tests, met his new teammates and manager Pellegrini, and signed as the club's new green-and-white player for the next four seasons. All of this was completed in record time following the agreement with Real Madrid for his transfer, valued at less than four million euros for 50% of his rights.
On his way to the Luis del Sol Sports City from the airport, the second Betis signing for the 2026-27 season gave his first words as a green-and-white player through the club's official media. He began by explaining the reasons that led him to choose Betis:
"It was a very good option because I was still in Spain, also the club is in the Champions, it's a very good, very nice place that generates a lot of excitement as a player. Happy to be here and to share the joy, so to speak, of the Champions and to enjoy it."
Fran made clear his eagerness to get started. Today he travels to Germany accompanied by the sporting director to join the preseason training camp with his new teammates:
"I think it's the whole package: the city, the fans, the fact that the team has grown a lot and is now very 'top' in Spain... I think we can play a very nice role in Europe and achieve real goals. I hope the start comes soon, that we are there for the presentation day, that everything goes well, at the best possible moment individually and collectively, and enjoy a beautiful season."
