15-Year-Old Charged with Terrorism for Planning Synagogue Attack in Germany
The Munich Public Prosecutor General's Office has filed terrorism-related charges against a 15-year-old German citizen from the Augsburg area. The teenager is accused of sympathizing with the Islamic State (IS) and planning an attack on a synagogue using pyrotechnic materials. In late October 2025, he allegedly caused an explosion that blew off two of his fingers and damaged his hearing and vision, also slightly injuring a friend. Police later found three kilograms of firecrackers and incriminating evidence on his electronic devices, including videos of beheadings. The charges include preparing a serious violent act endangering the state, unauthorized handling of explosives, causing an explosion, and dangerous bodily harm. The suspect is in pre-trial detention, and his lawyer has rejected the attack plot accusation, citing entrapment. The case has been brought before the juvenile criminal court in Augsburg.
