Amaher Nour, the wife of Ahmed al-Doush, a British national imprisoned in Saudi Arabia since 2024, has issued an urgent humanitarian appeal for his release. Al-Doush was arrested during a family holiday over social media posts and associations with government critics. His health has reportedly deteriorated sharply, with Amnesty International warning of serious risks to his life due to isolation and hunger strikes. In November, a UN working group on arbitrary detention ruled his imprisonment unlawful under international law, recommending immediate release and compensation. However, Saudi authorities rejected this finding, confirming his guilt and reducing his sentence from ten to five years in April 2026.
