United Imaging Intelligence co-CEO says company not pursuing extreme AI rollout
Zhou Xiang, co-CEO of United Imaging Intelligence, an AI-focused subsidiary of Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare, stated at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference that the company is taking a cautious approach to deploying AI tools, resisting pressure to aggressively roll out the technology. He noted that some Chinese companies measure employee AI token usage as a benchmark of workplace transformation, but his firm is 'not that extreme.' Zhou cited warnings from software engineers about the technology's insufficient maturity and potential side effects, adding that in healthcare, the first-mover advantage is less drastic than in other fields. The comments come as Chinese President Xi Jinping used the conference to promote China as a champion of a new global AI order and open-source technology. United Imaging competes with GE HealthCare, Siemens Healthineers, and Philips in medical imaging.
