United Imaging Intelligence Co-CEO Says Company Not Pursuing Extreme AI Rollout
Zhou Xiang, co-CEO of United Imaging Intelligence, an AI-focused subsidiary of Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare, stated at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference that the company is taking a cautious approach to deploying AI tools, resisting pressure for aggressive adoption. He noted that some Chinese companies measure employee AI usage as a benchmark of workplace transformation, but his firm is 'not that extreme.' Zhou cited warnings from software engineers about insufficient maturity of the technology and emphasized that in healthcare, first-mover advantage is less drastic than in other fields. The comments come as Chinese President Xi Jinping used the conference to promote China as a champion of a new global AI order and open-source technology. United Imaging competes with GE HealthCare, Siemens Healthineers, and Philips in medical imaging equipment.
